Organised Chaos is the coming together of a large group of people who bring their computers and video game consoles and connect them to a massive network. All these attendees meet at a single venue where power and networking infrastructure is provided. This type of event is generally referred to as a LAN party. And the people who participate in LAN parties are generally fans of video gaming and everything that this genre of entertainment entails.

Anybody with an interest in video game culture is welcome to join in at an OC event. Do not be intimidated by the large numbers of attendees at any single event and think that this event is only for stereotypes. Many different types of people attend, from the teenager playing games regularly, to married couples who grew up with videogames. Today, many girls are found attending OC. As a fact, our youngest registered attendee is 10 with our oldest attendee at 49 years of age. In between them, OC sees a whole array of different people come to our events. But the one thing that bonds all of them, is a passion for video game culture!

To make a LAN party work, some essentials are required. In order to connect up all of these gamers, OC makes use of networking equipment such as switches, cabling and adds a whole lot of power on tap. Every attendee needs to have a LAN or Network Card—also known as NIC’s (Network Interface Card) installed in their computers (Xbox360's and PS3's have an appropriate network plug at the rear).

To make an OC a worthwhile event, a large amount of people attend our venue for an entire weekend, from Friday night through till Sunday midday. Attendees can sleep over and also make use of shower facilities given at a venue.

The types of games that we play are not limited to specific genre’s, but are mostly First Person Shooters, Simulations and Strategy Games. The different games that we play can be seen in the Games section. We mostly focus on a very social non-serious level of game play. However, for semi-professional competition the Organised Gaming Association does its part with competitive tournaments that have corporate sponsors attached to them.

Sometimes, a group of gamers will form teams referred to as clans. These gamers then play with a tag associated with their aliases or nicknames. These clans often promote social game play, but will also tend toward more competitive play sessions amongst other clans.

We like to think that if you come alone to an OC, you will leave with friends. If you are intimidated still by the sheer scope of the experience, please feel free to come as a spectator to one of our events so that you can get a feel for the vibe and the high levels of fun that are had at Organised Chaos.
