Social DotA Tournament - Sailing to Victory
Published by on
DotA tournaments are a must have at any Organised Chaos event, and this past lan was no different. 8 teams signed up to participate in the social, including teams such as Styx and ORLY, regular clans that attend.
The tournament was to be a single elimination, with the team captains deciding with each other who would host. The games were played in -cm mode, in it's regular fashion, and at 10:00 sharp the players settled in and got stuck into their games.
The first rounds went quickly, with team DotA and ORLY advancing to the 1st semi-finals, as well as team SWD and Satanic Impulse advancing to the 2nd.
The teams were given a short break before taking on the semi's, and after about an hour 2 teams raised victorious. SwD and ORLY were to take each other on in the finals for the bragging rights of January DotA champions as well as a Bar One and Coke for each team member.
At 15:00 the game was set to begin, the projector being hooked up to broadcast to the LAN, with rulerofiron99 casting on the mic. From the get-go the game was tough, ORLY using a very stun orientated team, with a Mirana heading them up, and SwD relying on their Doom and Tide to tank it out while their Weaver got his farm on.
In the early stages of the game it seemed that ORLY were putting out the right stuff, as they were controlling the game quite well. However, they allowed Weaver to do what he needed to do, and with some great plays by Lich and DoomBringer to keep ORLY's Slardar out of the game, Weaver managed to acquire himself items that forced a good game, allowing victory to SwD.
A big thanks to all the teams that participated in the tournament, aswell as rulerofiron99 for taking the time to cast the game.
