OC Jan'12 rumbles with Zombie and Humans battling it out!
Published by on
OC JAN'12 social side got off to an excellent start as an impressive 10 teams entered the tournament with the prizes being a mere offer of Chocolates or Cokes for the winning team.
Shortly after making the announcment of a planned L4D2 social, many players arrived at the admin area eager to register their teams. Getting all their team names and captains down, a quick briefing explaining some game play was give such as "always crouch and fire as a hunter" or "remember to knock the jockey or hunter off someone and then shoot"
A quick debate over which chapter to be play ensued, me personally pushing that we don't play the first opening chapter as by default everyone has played that one. The first round was decided to be Dark Carnival, the second round agreed to be Hard Rain. The other rounds were decided at later stages of the event.
Team Kaas and LMN were looking pretty good until they reached the semi-final rounds against LUNA and PLUTO. Team LMN was kind enough to submit their screenshots for all to see.
The admin pit fielded their team playing under the team name PLUTO (People like us take over) , breezing through their rounds to the final. Team LUNA put up an impressive fight which seemed to lose steam after the first few minutes of every stage. Every stage was an incredibly intense opening salvo with impressive combinations to surprize and stop the humans even leaving or progressing passed the safe room stage. Usually initiated by a boomer puking all over at least 2 of the survivors, a full frenzied attack ensues with a hunter usually leaping and taking a survivor down, a smoker grabbing the player who attempts to save him with the spitter sending the oozing death onto the hunter's tackled target.
Medkits were usually used up within the first 2 minutes of the game! Here's looking forward to more L4D2 tournaments coming at February OC.
Round 1: Dark Carnival
Round 2: Hard Rain
Round 3: The Paris
Round 4: Swamp Fever
As a last foot note, we are looking for assistance in testing our new database system and are looking for team captains to email dietmar at oc.co.za so we can get you logged in and registering your teams.
Bye for now,
Treath
