OCDC Server Address Change
Published by on
Hi folks, some of you might have read my article about switch and server management last week. This is the follow-up article to show you how to get your OCDC changed to the new server address we will be using from now on at OC.
There are four ways to go about this.
- Change the IP address in your favourites list/favourites file manually.
- Download a new copy of OCDC and install it.
- Download and install the OCDC favourite fixer. (Recommended)
- Other DC++ clients.
1. Change it manually
Alright so you’ve chosen to change your IP address manually. Follow the steps to ensure that it will connect when you come to OC.
Step 1:
Open your OCDC client and click the “Favourites” star/button.
Step 2:
Either right-click on “oc” and click properties.
Step 3:
Change the IP address from 192.168.7.252 to oc.dc
Step 4:
Click ok and you’re done!
2. Download the new OCDC client
Here’s how to download the new copy of OCDC and install it before you come to the LAN. Remember that installing OCDC over an existing installation may overwrite your hashing files and settings.
Step 1:
Click here to download the latest OCDC client – Thanks to rulerofiron99 for making it for us.
Step 2:
Once it has finished downloading, run the file and go through the normal installation process.
Step 3:
Enjoy. It’s that simple.
If you’re at the LAN:
Step 1:
Open your web browser and go to http://oc.dc
Step 2:
Click the “OCDC 12 Install” to download the file.
Step 3:
Install as described above.
3. Download the favourite fixer
I would recommend this option as it is fairly fool-proof.
Step 1:
Click here to download the favourites fixer – Thanks to rulerofiron99 for making it for us.
Step 2:
Once it has finished downloading, run the file.
Step 3:
Follow the steps and read the instructions to fix your favourite file with the updated OC address.
If you’re at the LAN:
Step 1:
Open your web browser and go to http://oc.dc
Step 2:
Click the “OCDC 11 Favourites Fixer” to download the file.
Step 3:
Install as described above.
4. Other DC++ Clients
This part is for those lanners who do not use OCDC and prefer to use something like ApexDC++.
Step 1:
Change the IP Address 192.168.7.252 to the new hostname oc.dc
Step 2:
Enjoy.
Thanks for reading my short how-to, please also read my previous article "OC Switch and Server management week" if you haven't already. I hope to see you at the LAN!
Happy Fragging!
